Let’s talk about Glitter
Upgrade your everyday life NOW!
Glitter often has a bad reputation in the adult world, at least in the one I was anchored in for most of my adult life. In my “first life” I studied design at an art school and my major for the first years was in black and white photography. There was absolutely no room for glitter. All was very serious. Following the traces of my role models – the big street photographers like Robert Frank and Garry Winogrand – I was eager to display reality in my photography.
But what is reality and could reality even change with some sparkly glitter in it?
In my “second life”, which I define the time that I studied (not only) energetic coaching & healing modalities, I had a teacher (Karen Curry Parker) who always used glitter as an icebreaker in her Storylab workshops for adults. She was referring to the childlike playfulness and the creativity that would show up, when the course participants were able to use glitter in their creations. Those creations often were pictures, which should represent the participants after a process of overcoming challenges. They showed the good stuff, that would occur after the healing process, accompanied by writing a new story. Definitely glitter has a very positive and uplifting component in this context.
Glitter and Christmas time
Do you know those snow globes, that you shake and then you see the snowflakes falling onto whatever else is displayed in this little globe? Sometimes in those globes glitter falls after shaking instead of snow. It feels like a magic space, where you can dive into and start dreaming. This childlike dream state is present during the whole Christmas season. We all love looking at Christmas decoration in the shop windows, in the streets, in our own homes and especially on our Christmas tree. We love observing kids being caught in the magic of Christmas, widening their eyes in awe of a Christmas tree. And most of us love the Christmas spirit, the coziness, the inner warmth, the light that it brings into the dark winter – in the northern hemisphere.
And then there is New Year’s Eve …
Could it be more “glittery” than on New Year’s Eve, when we celebrate the New Year with a lot of glitter? Shimmering decoration, glitter in table fireworks being spread all around the room, sparkling fireworks – all those are welcoming in the shiny future. Hope is carried in everyone’s heart, that the New Year will bring, what they wish for.
Glitter in times of chaos & change?
Recently I found myself doing, what I rarely do – unless I had Christmas time as an excuse. I am using glitter in my social media stories. At first I did this totally unintentionally. But then I became aware, why I might do this more than usual. We live in extremely challenging times and when someone watches the news, they might even lose their Christmas spirit this year. But it is as well a time of change. And that we urgently need change, is indicated by the world wide chaos.
So what if – and I love using this what if statements, which my dear friend Chris made me aware of – we “glitter” all the drama away. What if we use some glitter to welcome in the changes and the new; hopeful, being aware that we are not helpless and no victims, but we do have influence. What if, we stay hopeful even though media tries to drive us into a state of depression and hopelessness.
Einstein said: “Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you can not help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.”
Go Glitter
I say, let’s use glitter to create a state of hopefulness, to welcome in the change to the better. There might be challenges on the path, but if we stay in a shiny, sparkly frequency, there should be a good chance that this frequency will match our new reality.
If you believe in Einstein & physics or just want to support the child inside you that believes in magic, you might want to consider glittering up your social media as well as your “real” life but especially your thoughts. And who knows, what if #glitter goes viral and changes the world into a better place?
I say, go glitter and give it a try!
