Have you ever experienced your life being influenced by inherited patterns from your family? It’s easy to start blaming our ancestors for our current challenges—to wonder how our genetic code might have been shaped by their experiences. But today, I have good news: there is definitely a way out.
The burden of my ancestors
My parents, like many of their generation, grew up during the war, or more often, in post-war scenarios. My mother was a little girl when my granny and her five children had to flee from what is now Poland. Their home was then called Oberschlesien. They had to leave everything behind and start a new life in modern-day Germany. Luckily, they settled in the Western part of Germany, sparing them additional trauma.
It’s hard to imagine what it means to leave home not by free will – to abandon everything in a hurry just to safely escape an area. An immense amount of courage is needed to do so, especially with five children. This isn’t the only reason my grandma was always my hero, my rock, but that’s another story to tell.
A story from my life
Throughout my adult life, I had a persistent feeling that I urgently needed to leave Germany. Wherever I lived, I never truly felt at home. I traveled extensively, but looking back, I now suspect I was always searching for something I couldn’t quite name.
Before any trip, I was always afraid that something would prevent me from catching my flight. Yet, at the end of travels, when my companions were often anxious about being stranded far from home, I was completely relaxed and sometimes even wished for a departure delay.
In my youth, I was driven to move to Spain, but I never had the courage to go for longer than a vacation. Later, my work life crossed borders into Denmark, and I spent a lot of time each year shooting photos and videos there. Soon, I became compelled to move to Denmark. It was still this forceful drive to leave “home” and run.
I experienced extreme restlessness for decades, as if I couldn’t make a decision based on rational thought or a normal desire to live in another country. It felt more like something I had to do as fast as possible – run, run, run. Just like my family had to do back in the 1940s. And they weren’t the first in my ancestral line.
My way out of this
Over the past decades, I’ve learned about energy clearing. While there’s energy clearing for the here and now, there’s also energy clearing for the past and even for past generations. You can clear a family line by going backward to the origin of a problem, which is extremely helpful when the urgency of an issue has accumulated in the present, carried from generation to generation, with everyone adding their own layers.
Thinking about moving to Denmark back then, I began to realize there might be more to this desire than just Germany not being a good match for me. When I discovered I could book an ancestral clearing, I was eager to find out if any traces could be found in my ancestral line.
And boom, there it was… the origin of my desire to run could be traced back several generations. A clearer often receives intuitive impressions while working with you, and mine could describe a scenario where everything had to be left behind in a rush. She also got an impression of the clothes those ancestors were wearing. This allowed me to roughly deduce that this urgency to leave home likely first appeared in my mother’s family line about five generations ago.
An ancestral clearing is a deep clearing that affects generations backward as well as forward. It can take about a week or longer for the energies to fully settle, but after this time, a huge shift in the cleared person almost always occurs. And so it was for me. I finally found peace.
I didn’t suddenly like Germany more, but I no longer felt an urgent need to flee from it. I ended up in Denmark a few years later anyway, but it was external circumstances and the right timing that finalized my decision to give it a try, not the pressure to run that I felt before. And it was relatively easy to choose Denmark given that my work life was already mostly situated in this neighboring country.
What can an ancestral clearing address?
There are other issues in family lines that could affect your current life: self-destructive patterns, abuse, relationship dynamics, and more. All of these could be addressed in an ancestral clearing. Your system will choose what the family line is ready to let go of, most likely something very prominent in your life.
The deep work of ancestral clearing
Even if this inherited “stuff” could also be addressed in one of the “normal” energy clearings, a full ancestral clearing goes deeper.
It includes four separate clearings in one session:
- One for the receiving person to prepare the system for the ancestral clearing
- One down the mother’s line
- One down the father’s line back to the origin of what wants to be cleared
- Another clearing for the receiving person to integrate the work through the ancestral lines
These sessions often take 90-120 minutes.
